My volunteer year was a hodgepodge of sad and blissful moments and heaps of great experiences. It was a year wherein I learned so much about myself and how to deal with certain challenges. It was also a year of breaking cultural barriers and creating global friendships. My overall experience taught me to be independent and compassionate so as to move forward. I am so happy and truly grateful that I was able to take this opportunity to step out of my comfort zone.
